HOVER MORE GROUND

Separate the sled from the shred. Eliminate the squish from the smash. Who says capability and agility can’t go hand-in hand?

The all-new Mayhem 140 is lighter, stronger, more supple, more efficient, more magic carpet, and more poppy. It’s the most capable bike we’ve ever made. In every way.

SHOP NOW

Introducing the 3rd generation of Living Link suspension, the biggest leap forward in the platform’s existence. A new layout gives us wider control over kinematics, enabling gobs of grip, plentiful pop, and an unprecedented level of control.

REFRAME THE RULES

Triangles are the strongest shape, so our Slaybar frame subdivides the mainframe, creating a truss-like structure to bolster the shock and distribute forces. The result: A strength-to-weight improvement of 60%.

First Impressions: Spot Mayhem 140

"With the new design, Spot managed to match the 130’s climbing ability, but on the descents, the 140 is a completely different, wild bone-crushing animal."

"The suppleness early in the stroke makes for confidence-inspiring control while tearing through roots at speed, and the supportive mid-stroke keeps the handling predictable when pressing into and accelerating out of the corners. Fun is my number-one gauge of a bike, and there is no shortage of good times when going downhill on the Mayhem 140."

"Spot is a family-owned company backed by loyal employes dedicated to designing great bikes. The brand doesn’t drop new models often, but when it does, you can bet the designers put their heart and soul into it. With the Mayhem 140, they’ve created something special."

Spot Mayhem 140

"The Mayhem 140 brings a unique blend of traits to the table. It’s a fantastic climber, competent playful descender, and it’s equally fun on more mundane trails as it is on more challenging trails. Spot’s Living Link suspension delivers a lively, supportive, and composed ride that creates an engaging experience in a wide range of conditions.Colorado demands a lot of versatility from Trail bikes, it often asks them to act like Cross-Country bikes on long steep climbs, and then go downhill like Enduro bikes on insanely long descents. The Mayhem 140 taps into its Colorado heritage and does so without trying to be something it’s not — it doesn’t pretend to be a shorter travel Enduro sled or a beefed-up XC rig. Instead, the Mayhem 140 leans firmly into the Trail bike category and is better for it. There’s no identity crisis here— the Mayhem 140 is a Trail bike through and through."

Spot’s Mayhem 140 Is the Best Trail Bike You’re Not Riding

"The Mayhem 140 is a brilliant all-around all-trail bike that’s fast, capable, and more efficient than most."

"It is a damn fine machine and has no problem matching up against the category’s elite."

"Thanks to that Spot energy, it climbs superbly and quickly for a bike in its category, with traction in spades and great support."

"Pushing myself down a descent with lots of speed variation, corners of all sizes and speeds, plenty of square-edged rocks (loose and embedded), and a handful of smaller drops and jumps, the Mayhem 140 was nearly magical. The wheels skipped and floated across the terrain while the bike above remained calm."

"Spot’s Mayhem 140 is quirky and a bit different. And it’s also one of the best trail bikes you can buy."

First Ride: Spot Mayhem 140

"My notes for the handful of rides I've taken it on so far all center around a similar theme that can be summed up in two words (that are best said with an East Coast accent): wicked fun."

"I ended up hitting some bigger moves on the Mayhem, ones that I typically reserve for longer travel bikes, largely because I wasn't worried about whether or not I'd end up blowing through the travel when I landed."

"The climbing position is upright and comfortable, and the suspension is efficient without being harsh, ideal traits for long rides on a variety of terrain."

"There's no shortage of good trail bikes out there these days, but Spot seem to have cooked up something a little different, a bike with suspension performance that helps it stand out from the crowd."

👍👍👍👍👍

I’m a big fan of Spot bikes, I just like the way they handle. The Ryve is my go to , but I really like this bike when things get sketchy or I just want more travel. I like the way the bike handles climbing and descending. I don’t feel like I’m steering a tank like I do on some bikes. Ride one and find out for yourself.

Shocked

I'm coming from a 2018 Pivot 429, and I was expecting the Mayhem to be the usual compromise when adding 20mm on both ends; better the faster you went, but not as nimble at slower speed. My home trails are Colorado high desert. It's techy, short up and down, very rocky. Which is to say, not very high speeds. My lunch loop has everything from a 500ft ~12% climb to flowy singletrack to a slickrock section, but you rarely crack ~15mph, for instance.

6 rides in, the Spot kicks a$$. My first ride I was cleaning sections I've never made before. On climbs! It reminds me of my Jeep. It goes over everything and makes it seem effortless. And stand on a short, steep up, and no bob!! What?!?!?

Downhill has been good; the bike feels sharp and the extra 20mm is comfy. But so far, it's been a little less "better" than expected. I think that criticism lands squarely on the tires (showing how much tires can affect your opinion). The Continental Kryptotal and Xyntotal (sp?) just aren't doing it for me. I've run them as low as 15b/12f psi, and they just don't grip the way i want(which is subjective, in fairness). The back spins out too easily on loose over hard. The front is a drifting tire (point it at a line and it will drift towards the outside of the turn, so you have to compensate and come in earlier/closer to the inside). In fairness, I've been riding a Minion DHR 2 in front for years, and that is a tire you point at a line, and it holds the line. You lean far enough your knee…

It's become my favorite bike ever!

So it took a few rides for me to dial this in, and now this bike flies! Mason was so helpful in not only answering questions prior to my purchase, but then sending me different stems to try and offering suggestions to adjust the fit to my liking. I'm picky :-) and like to have a precise fit. Now I've had the opportunity to hit many of the big rides here in Crested Butte and the bike handles everything smoothly. It rolled right through the steep climbs and the technical climbs, and I felt like I floated on the descents. I like supporting the small Colorado bike companies. This is my second Spot and I can say that I'll keep coming back. Great service and sales and welcoming vibe at the headquarters.
