"I fell in love with it instantly, and that love only got deeper as I rode it more and stronger as I rode other bikes. For what it’s worth, this is my favorite mountain bike right now, and the one bike I’d keep if I had to get rid of the others."

Mayhem 130

My new Mayhem 130 has exceeded all my expectations! It climbs better than expected, descends better than expected - point & shoot! AND that I love how low that dropper post goes!

Fantastic Trail Bike!

I received my XL Mayhem 130 Six Star AXS build in early January this year after pre-order in July 2020. It was a long wait, and I had plenty of time to question whether I had made the right decision. However, after riding the bike over the last three months, I'm can confidently I have no regrets; this thing is great.

I delayed leaving a review on the bike as I wanted to get the setup dialed and put in a fair number of miles before leaving a review. I now have roughly 250 miles of trail riding on the bike I feel confident I know the bike well at this point. For reference, I'm a male, 6'2" and 175 pounds. I ride roughly eight hours a week, splitting time between my mountain bike and my gravel bike. Mountain bike-wise, I'm a "trail" rider through and through...I ride to go downhill, but I enjoy going uphill too; having a bike that does both well was critical for me.

Rear Suspension Setup:

Spot's guide to setting up the rear suspension was pretty close to perfect to me. I settled in a 165psi in the shock (4psi more than the recommendation), compression adjustment in position "2" and the rebound at whatever Spot recommended. This puts the bike somewhere around 25% sag, which seems to work well for me.

Climbing:

My previous trail bike was a Yeti 4.5c; a fairly light bike that climbs very well. In short, the Spot Mayhem 130 climbs better, despite being a bigger bike. The rear suspension has zero bob or feedback from pedaling, even with out of the saddle efforts. …

Spot Mayhem

Best bike I've ever ridden. I have had MANY! Stumpy's etc. It climbs great and descends incredibly. The guys at Spot offer easy access/availability for questions and suggested swaps in parts. I love the position it puts me in the cockpit. I thought it would be something I would have to get used to but it feels very natural compared to my Stumpjumper Pro.
