Testimonials

"This bike climbs better than any bike I’ve ever owned."

//Mitch S.

Above and beyond.
Exceptional! The bike itself is incredible! It climbs like a beast, and fits me perfectly!

This was my first Direct to consumer bike buy, and I couldn't be happier with my buying experience and my new sexy ride.

BIG WHEELS. BIG TRAVEL. BIG SURPRISE.

Whether the climbs are long and sustained or short and sweet, the Mayhem cruises up the trails with ease. The front end feels glued to the ground even on steep, punchy climbs, and the Living Link suspension seemed to give us a minor boost when we needed it most ... Due to the [composite] leaf-spring design, the Mayhem has a stiff rear end that allows riders to get aggressive on...

2018 MOUNTAIN BIKE EDITORS' CHOICE WINNERS

The secret to the Mayhem’s success is in its simplicity. Where most mountain bikes use a typical pivot and rocker assembly, the Mayhem replaces one set of pivots (something that can wear out over time) with a super-durable, carbon leaf spring called Living Link. The link pairs with the shock to add liveliness and a bit of extra boost to the traction, and also stiffens up the connection between frame...

PINKBIKE SPOT MAYHEM 29 REVIEW

“The Mayhem's 130mm of travel, ultra-efficient suspension design and modern geometry all add up to create a super quick and stable trail machine. The Mayhem is quick and lively, with pedaling performance that encourages out of the saddle sprinting at every opportunity. It's worth a look for riders in search of an ultra-efficient all-rounder." -Mike Kazimer

LOVE AT FIRST RIDE: SPOT MAYHEM 29

“Over the period I held the Spot Mayhem in house for review, I passed it around and let two friends demo it. Each ended up buying one. After three months of riding it myself, I was left with a similar feeling that it’s a bike that, without a doubt, I would purchase. It’s often tough to identify exactly what it is about a bike that makes it so immediately likable....

SPOT MAYHEM 29 ON THE NORTH SHORE - LONG TERM REVIEW

I try to refrain from gushing on reviews, but I really like this thing. The fun factor is pinned, which is an impressive task with 29" hoops. It allows impressive feats with small travel, and has really opened my eyes to what smaller bikes can be capable of. It's not going to offer the big hit capability of a long travel enduro rig, but for much of the terrain many...

This bike is FAST

I love the fit and feel of this bike. The standover height on the medium is a bit more than my other bikes, but the cockpit feels more compact. I like it, a lot. The only thing I may do to the bike is address the brakes. I am 5'8" 165lbs and they do not stop on a dime, it took some getting used to. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and I would buy it again. I think they should include a hat :-)

No test ride bliss!

I bought this bike without the ability to test it due to COVID. Read all the recommendations and reviews and decided it matched my style, climbs like a cross country but descends like a cush freeride Enduro! Absolutely no regrets, get one for yourself!

Just a ripping bike

I waited until I had some miles on the bike to write this review but this bike is a just a rocket on the trails. The living link is something else and lives up to the hype. I've never seen or ridden a bike that climbs this well and also descends this well. I'm not super aggressive on the downhills so I'm probably not the best person to leave a great review about that but it has handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. I feel much more comfortable on the descents with this bike than I did with my Pivot Mach 429.

The bike climbs like a machine. It's so efficient. I've cleaned features with ease that I never used to do. I almost never have to stand up to clean technical features. The geometry and living link make this bike so efficient on the climbs. It's definitely a 11 out of 10 for climbing. I have put in some pretty big days on this bike and it has felt so efficient the entire time with the living link and the geometry. It climbs way better than my pivot did which had less travel than this bike did.

The 5 star build is great but I ended up with the 6 star XTR. Don't skip on the carbon rims if you can afford it. Those ENVE rims are something else.

The customer service was excellent and the bike was setup correctly. I love the look of the black frame. They also include a nice shock pump for you. Most water bottles will not fit in the lower cage either but Spot does sell one that does. You can put a cage on the bottom of the frame yeti style if you want.

Six Months of Mayhem

Let's start with this: I never write product reviews. But, I couldn't not write one for my Mayhem (4-star build, XL) after six months of absolute bliss! I wanted to get back into MTB after 20 years of doing other things to stay active, but I always had great memories of trail riding in the back of my mind. Finally, a friend of mine convinced me to jump back in, and after 8 months of research I decided the Mayhem was my ticket back. I was intimidated at first - a lot had changed with technology in 20 years and I wasn't completely sure what lay in store. I took my semi-educated best guesses at tire size, frame size, components, frame geometry and hoped for the best. Mayhem checked every box, was a great value versus other similar bikes, and Spot had that little bit of "something" as a brand. That first ride was very different from what I had remembered from riding my old fully-rigid [insert mass-produced, market-leading bike brand here]. One mile into that ride and I was OTB. I was worried I'd made a mistake. I was wrong. On my last ride just a few days ago, I actually found myself thinking, "Let's see what happens if I just let the bike do what it wants through this gnarly root/rock garden." That's confidence. That's Mayhem. I'm back. Thank you Spot!

One of my most satisfying purchases

I replaced a 2013 hard tail and haven't looked back. My Mayhem 130 has made every mile more enjoyable. My ability has improved due to the confidence that this bike instilled in me and I look forward to every ride.
