Mayhem 130; zero buyer remorse...

This is a 'bike swap' review, more than equipment praise-- there's plenty already.

I was on 2012 Sworks-level Epic for a decade-- fast uphill but a nervous nelly going down (several endos over the years- 70.5 head angle and I should've bought an XL...)

I was eyeing the Spot Ryve 115 as a replacement for a couple years, but decided to pull the trigger on the new 6-star Mayhem instead, which is less than 1 pound heavier.

There's a lot of talk about the efficiency of the Spot design, but I seriously thought-- and accepted-- there's no way I'll be faster uphill than on the Epic. This was the one perceived 'con' for me when buying the Mayhem (I'm a bit of a weight weenie).

I've gotten a few short rides in and the suspension mostly set. I'm still not dialed in with the Mayhem geometry yet, after so many years on the Epic. However, a couple weeks ago I decided to go hard at Buffalo Creek for a 'review' ride. I have years of Strava data at BC; but, OMG I set 22 achievements in one day. PRs everywhere-- uphill, downhill, total time-- pretty much everything. And the fun factor was sky high, especially when confidence starts to replace nerves on the downhill.

This was frankly amazing, because the bikes 4 pounds heavier, I can't yet pick my lines going up and I'm nowhere near the bike's potential on the down. I always have fun riding, but this bike is all caps FUN; I'm really looking forward to getting dialed in.

My one regret-- why did I wait so long to pull the…

Goldilocks size suspension for this aging guy

Great bike. Originally tried the 150 and realized wanted a lighter bike and honest assessment of type of terrain this 50-something body should be riding and not riding.

Another Spot!

Absolutely loving my G2 Mayhem 130 with 6-Star XTR build!!!

Loved my G1 Rollik 557 bought in 2016! Put on about 10,400 miles. But the Feb '23 sale pricing was too good to pass up and I was itching to move up to 29". Before that, I rode Mavericks, so I'm big fan of Andy's.

Riding in Central Texas is very technical and I just love how the Living Link performs. The frame (and wheel) stiffness makes it predictable and responsive, and the geometry on my L (I'm 6'1" with 32" inseam) keeps me centered, active, and comfy!

Ordering process was great, despite the sale-drive deluge, and Paul and Mitchell were responsive and great help with sizing.
