BEST MOUNTAIN BIKES 2023: LIVELY, PRECISE, AND QUICK, THE NEW RYVE 115 IS ONE OF THE QUICKEST TRAIL BIKES YOU CAN BUY

"The new Ryve pedals very well, a trait I’ve experienced in every Spot with the Living Link rear suspension design. For whatever reason, this design seems to imbue Spot’s bikes with unique sensations of extra punch and efficiency. This bikeclimbs. And not just because it pedals so well but because the suspension is reactive and generates tons of traction ... If you’re seeking an extra reactive trail bike that climbs very well, feels light and lively, rewards precision riding, and still offers modern trail bike performance on the descents, few bikes can fulfill your wants like the Ryve 115."

First Test: Next Generation Spot Ryve 115

"Compared to the generation 1 Ryve 115, generation 2 is an entirely different beast ... I may risk losing your trust when I say this, but the 26.7-pound Ryve 115 feels as if it accelerates uphill. It’s as close as you can get to an e-bike feel for the pure of heart. Spot’s claim that the leaf spring stores energy and releases it in the form of a power boost sounds too good to be true but there is something to it. I honestly enjoy long steep climbs on this bike. That’s because for every watt of energy that you put into it, you get rewarded in spades. The bike moves uphill with ease. It’s nimble, reactive, and balanced. No other suspension design really compares when it comes to climbing performance. There’s no need to fuss with lockouts or switches either, I rode uphill and downhill with the shock fully open ... Spot calls the Ryve 115 a “Big-Loop trail bike”. That’s as good a description as any, but the rider really defines their own category for this bike. The climbing efficiency and downhill capabilities create an overall fun-factor that will inspire longer, big mountain rides and weeknight hot laps. Whatever your skill level, the Ryve 115 won’t hold you back. If you like to sprint uphill and demoralize your riding buddies, it’s there for you. If you speed-test every descent, let it rip. If you can do both, well then, the Ryve 115 is your daisy."

SPOT-ON

"As progressive as this XC bike is, it still does its best work on the climbs, conquering them faster and easier than any trail-focused bike we've ridden. The suspension feels firm underfoot and resistant to body movements. Hit a bump, however, and it responds, keeping the rider in the saddle and powering the pedals. This not only keeps the rider planted, but also maintains rear-tire traction. In fact, this is one of the best bikes we've ridden up technical climbs. It's light, quick and has just enough suspension to maintain forward drive ... given how well this bike climbed, test riders were a little surprised by the Ryve 115's descending prowess. It craves speed and feels somewhat comfortable in steeper terrain that makes many XC bikes flinch. Small-to-mid-bump performance is also a pleasant surprise. Considering its low amount of wheel travel, it does a very good job of keeping the tires on the ground and clawing for traction."

Love it!

So this is right up there as one of my favorite MTB bikes ever! I've only been out on it 5 or 6 times, but it is so stinking playful, climbs like a billy goat and is light as a feather. I am so happy with this bike, there was no 'get used to it' period, I just jumped on and started ripping on it. I drove to Golden, picked it up and went out that night, the boys as the shop set it up perfectlly. Did I mention it is light as a feather? My kids are jealous that I have the lightest bike in the stable. Wish I would have have bought it years ago....

So Far, So Great!

Unfortunately I’ve only been on three rides since it arrived. I’m getting older and logging more miles each ride so the move from my Mayhem 130 to the new Ryve made a lot of sense.

Great fit from the 1st ride (special thanks to the SPOT team setting up the suspension for me). Super nimble and playful (which makes mellow trails a blast), but when the trail gets more chunky and technical the bike is supportive and predictable. I told my friend, if the Mayhem was a very sharp knife, this Ryve would be a surgeons scalpel. You can easily pick your lines on this bike, but you have the option to stay off the brakes and let it float across the terrain.

The efficiency is stellar…up, down, flat or berms…all of it is in the Ryves wheelhouse.

So much has been said about the climbing ability (I agree), but I feel it’s the WHOLE PACKAGE! If you have concerns about the amount of travel (or lack of), don’t.

The only hesitation I had was not being able to demo it on the trails I ride BEFORE the purchase…however, SPOT has a great policy in place & I suspect you won’t ever have to use it.

That’s all for now, thank you from Las Vegas!

Ridiculous bike that exceeded expectations

This Ryve 115 is the most fun I've ever had on a bike. From the first pedal stroke, it has proven to be incredibly confidence inspiring and the biggest meld between body and bike I've experienced yet. Hard to explain, and it sounds dumb, but I feel like "one" with this bike. It climbs and pedals more efficiently and effortlessly than any trail bike I've ever been on; perhaps from the Living Link and the kinematics it provides. I don't even consider this an XC bike. Sure, it only has 115mm of travel, but it's plush while still being supportive, feels very robust, and has the confidence and geo of a larger bike. It's the main bike in my stable for anything on the steeps of Colorado. I've ridden it on every black and double-black trail I can find without a hiccup. It's not a plower downcountry bike. It rewards popping over chunk and keeping the speed high with pedal strokes while descending, which on a heavier/plusher bike would just get absorbed. Every watt put into the Ryve moves you forward; it doesn't suck up any it (which is a great)! I should also note that the fit and finish on the frame is very good. Paint was impeccable. The suspension linkage and hardware design is premium, robust and clearly designed for reliability and keeping crap out of the bearings.

5star ripper

What a dream to pedal, it just launches into and out of any situation like it’s electric. At 66 a guy needs an edge for the 35 year old slayers out here , and this bike really fits the bill, I couldn’t be happier. Thanks
