1st ride

Having always wanted to try a belt drive I finally pulled the trigger on a new Rocker last month. Fully built up with my existing parts from my old steel SS my new XL Rocker came in at a svelte 20.5 lbs!!! I have been riding a TI and a steel SS for several years and have enjoyed both, so I was hesitant to go carbon due to ride quality. My impressions after back to back 20+ mile 2000+ feet of climbing rides.

1) The power transfer to the rear wheel is incredible... like driving a stick shift rather than a slushy automatic.

2) Intuitive! I always struggle to adapt to new bikes, so I expected that this would be tough, especially with the first race of the Kenda Cup next weekend. I have to say, this is the easiest most predictable bike that I have ever ridden. The bike tracks rally well in tight turns (even as an XL) and I saw my Strava segment times improve by about 3 seconds per minute. Being that I have ridden these segments a million times, this was incredible to me.

3) Yes, it is a little stiffer in the seat stays, but I use a Gravel dropper that gives you about 3/8" (or so) travel when its not locked out, so it was fine.

I love it so much that I just ordered a 150mm Mayhem frame in hopes that their Enduro bike will have some of the handling DNA!!

2024 Spot Rocker Single Speed: A Fast Silky Smooth Shredder

The 2024 Spot Rocker Single Speed, built to the 6-Star spec with Gates Belt Drive and ZIPP 1ZERO HITOP SW wheels, is a revelation. As a 52-year-old expert rider with 30+ years of experience across various cycling disciplines, I was initially skeptical about getting back on a hardtail. However, this bike quickly won me over with its incredible agility and surprising capability on technical terrain. The geometry seems to match my riding style very well.

At 22 lbs with pedals and cages, the Rocker SS is remarkably light. This translates to fast climbs and a playful feel on the trail. The Gates Belt Drive system is incredibly smooth and quiet, eliminating chain noise and significantly reducing maintenance.

The ZIPP 1ZERO HITOP SW wheels are a standout feature. They are incredibly light and surprisingly compliant, offering a comfortable ride over rough terrain. Combined with the Schwalbe Racing Ralph and Wicked Will tires, which provide excellent traction and cornering grip, the bike feels incredibly fast and efficient.

Highlights:

Exceptional handling: Agile and capable on technical terrain, despite the lack of rear suspension.

Lightweight and efficient: Climbs with ease and feels incredibly fast on the trail.

Quiet and smooth operation: Gates Belt Drive eliminates chain noise and requires minimal maintenance.

High-quality components: ZIPP wheels, Schwalbe tires, and a 6-Star build level ensure top-notch performance and durability.

Overall:

The Spot Rocker Single Speed is a…

Love my Rocker V2!

The Spot Rocker V2 is my fifth single-speed and I love it! The geometry is by far the best I’ve experienced with a nicely planted rear while climbing combined with great stability on the descents. My 6-star build is excellent with the RockShox SID Ultimate fork smoothing out the bumps, the Zipp 1Zero Hitop S carbon wheels spinning up quickly and providing a solid feel, Schwalbe tires gripping the trails, powerful SRAM Level Ultimate Stealth brakes slowing me down, and an oh so sweet SRAM AXS dropper post that’s the smoothest and quickest dropper I’ve ever used. I’ve always been intrigued by the Gates Belt Drive and it does not disappoint. It is smooth, quiet, efficient and as I’ve learned during my research, will provide years of performance with minimal maintenance. I’m having a lot of fun getting to know the Rocker and look forward to many years on this one. Would I change anything? May shorten the handlebar a bit, install some Ergon bar end grips and perhaps pick up a rear cog with 2 more teeth as my strength ain’t what it use to be. Thank you Spot for making a great bike, and now I’m intrigued by the Mayhem after looking at the great reviews it is getting. Keep up the good work!

So far I love my new bike, it’s light, fast and sturdy. I bought it with a carbon Envy fork for the full rigid experience.

Simple, functional, beautiful

I've chosen the Spot Rocker SS after an exhaustive search for a hard tail replacement. It was the only bike which covered all my criteria. Now riding it since two months and absolutely happy with it. Love the low maintenance in muddy winter conditions. I've changed the front sprocket to 39t with a 115t belt to tackle some steeper terrain. Works great. Although a bit at the limit for covering ground when going straight (but that wasn't a priority anyway).
