My first ride on the Spot Acme did not have me riding alongside traffic or waiting for red lights to turn. I wasn’t in a hurry, and I didn’t have a destination. I was simply cruising at a neighborhood pace, alone with my thoughts (how many years do I have left before my little boy values stupid talk with his buddies over quality time with his mom?). For this, the Acme’s flat bar and endurance-like geometry put me in a more aggressive position than an upright city bike (like the Civia Lowry Step-Thru). Still, I found myself taking it as slow and casual as I do on those types of bikes, and never felt that the Acme wanted—or needed—to go faster. And yet, on a mixed-pace ride (this time, with my friend Jimmy), the Acme quickly zipped along busy streets, let me comfortably spin up a switchback path, jumped without hesitation at every green light, and even let me slow down long enough to witness the absolute best head of feathered white hair on a guy who clearly worshipped Whitesnake during its heyday (and his). If an initial investment of $2,000 for a city bike is hard to swallow, consider this. You could save yourself a few hundred bucks and get something that looks and rides like a dream now, but doesn’t have the components to keep up with your daily miles and abuse. Or you could get a bike from Spot, a family-owned company based in Golden, Colorado, that has deep roots in cycling design, engineering, and innovation. The Acme is just one result of this commitment. It’s a solid, unassuming bike that doesn’t compromise quality and comfort by skimping on, well, anything.

Part road bike, part mountain bike, and smooth-sailing all day long—the Spot Acme brings the best of each to your daily commute. Versatility

Based in the UK I took the risk of buying this on the strength of reviews and after paying excessive import tax I was not disappointed

If you could I’d have given the review a 4.5 as I think it could do with slightly wider wheel rims but they’re useable. I managed to fit 40C gravel tyres but don’t think there’s any room for anything bigger.

Sing this for packtafting and I have quick release front and rear racks so can transition between bike and load carrier quickly.

Stability fine when loaded.

The 11 speed hub gears are smooth and the belt drive is great for pack rafting as it doesn’t matter if it gets wet and there is no oil to mess up your boat.

I’ve had many bikes over the years but I am now definitely a belt drive convert.

From Agreessive Fitness to a More Comfortable Upright Commuter Ride

Size: 60 cm ACME, Rider: 62 yo, 6'-3", 215 lb, 34.75" inseam, Desired riding position: back 60 degrees to horizontal for comfort and ease of viewing surroundings. My ACME is a pleasure to ride after completing stem and handlebar changes to achieve my desired more upright riding position. The bike came set up with what I describe as an aggressive fitness riding posture. It was more aggressive than I expected, based on it being characterized as a city/commuter bike . I assumed those terms translated to a more upright, take-in-the-surroundings, riding position. I was wrong and thought I might have made a costly mistake when I discovered that fiberglass steering tubes are not designed to accept steering tube extensions. A lot of searching and a few equipment trials got me to a solution that included a short stem and a handlebar with a 136 mm rise and 15 degree back sweep (Shimano Roll Handlebar). This combination places the top of my handlebar grIps about level with my seat. I was pleasantly surprised that I was just (barely) able to install the two without need for longer hydraulic brake lines or longer shifter cable. Upgrades: Ergon grips, Shimano PD-EF 202 Flat Pedals. The Alfine "NO PEDALING!" gear shifting reminds me of learning to drive a stick shift car. A shift SMOOTH as silk when done as intended, and CLUNKY when one attempts to shift while applying any pressure to the pedals. This is especially true while riding uphill. Light, fast bike for a tall person

I’ve been looking for years for a belt-drive bike that would work for someone my size (I’m 6’4” and slender). The dominant US domestic brand told me that their bike wouldn’t work. The other options were largely outside the country.

The Acme arrived very quickly and was easy to assemble. I’m very much enjoying how fast and light it feels, along with the usual belt-drive benefits (quiet, clean). I’m a one-bike rider, and I expect to enjoy this one for a long time.

Exactly what I needed

I was commuting on a fixie- loved the simplicity and ease of use. But got a new job a lot further away and with some hills that required me to get a little extra mechanical advantage.

I splurged on the acme because it had everything I wanted. Shipped quickly and assembly was easy- though I did have a wobble that I couldn't figure out, support was great and they quickly got me sorted out.

Installed some fenders and lights, and I've been commuting on the bike for two weeks now. Super smooth ride, lightweight but sturdy, and fun! This thing is exactly what I needed.
